his coffee is rich and flavorful, not at all bitter. it is smooth and the aroma.....well, close to perfection!

i look forward to any morning i get to wake up to BODY's coffee!

  3. Ahhhhh i am sipping on some fine harrar as i go through my morning mail an check what my work flow fpr the day. I stopped buying the local coffee swill in favor of Barisataonduty's quality pan roasted beans. There is no reason to ever doubt the quality of this coffee, it's Real Damn Good Coffee at all times.
Its now become a pleasant constant in my life

  4. So, we go to Trader Joe's yesterday and there's a whole rack of their own coffee, all whole bean and in need of grinding but fortunately they let you do that right there.

We pick up a can and off we go - ten cents a cup - not bad when you're broke.

We need a new press though. Ours is dying a slow and painful death, but the Trader Joe's coffee still tastes good with a dash of cinnamon tossed into the press before the hot water goes in.

  7. Love your coffee. Your Harrar was the best i've ever had. Can't wait to drink more. You've got true roasting skills!

  8. The Harrar coffee is one of the best beans i've tasted in quite some time. Beautiful and rich full bodied and without a hint of acid truly a great roast and great job! thanks for the opportunity to try it

  9. This is a perfect example of passion for uniqueness. No one could ever come close to roasting beans the same way.

When heart and soul are put into creating something wonderful, the final product of quality, aroma and flavor are intoxicating.

The Ethopian Harrar was my favorite.

  10. Harrar was really good. Different from any coffee I've ever had before. The acidity was a bit much for me but that's my own thing. It was beyond smooth and very light. When I try it again today I will say much more. But for now, know you have a follower for life!!!

  11. Looking back over this year of 2009 I must say the last couple months have been the best since I found your site and tasted your great coffee. Coffee that I thought was good is now much lower on the scale. Now your roasted coffee beans take top prize. Harrar coffee is by far superior to any coffee that has touched my lips. I could not detect any bitterness at all it's so smooth I have no words to express the great quality. Looking forward to purchasing some very soon. A great way to welcome the new year in a few days.

  13. I absolutely LOVED the Harrar! The aroma was fruity with notes of milk chocolate. The flavor was crisp, lively and bursting with blueberry and brown sugar. Super yummy :)

  14. consider yourself lucky to experience coffee that @baristaonduty roasts. I've had the Limu and Yirgacheffe that were memorable down to the last sip and that's my criteria for great coffee.

Thinking of it now makes me want more!

  17. Thank so much for my Ethiopian Yirgacheffe! It had a wonderful aroma and was very smooth. Your attention to detail, and love for the coffee surely comes through in every cup. Keep up the good work.

  18. Cush Coffee is the best coffee I've ever had. It can't be compared to any other - even though some of the offerings may be from the same region as another coffee company's offerings. Cush Coffee takes time with their coffee, working with the profile of the coffee and develops it further to let all of its light shine. I love every coffee I have ever received from them, especially the Vietnamese R16 Coffees - at every roast level - because of its endless possibilities and the time and effort Cush Coffee puts into it. Support It!

  19. This is my first time purchasing from Brother Johnny. I got a nice sampling of 6 different beans.

I am a VERY picky coffee drinker. I've been looking for REALLY good coffee for many years. The big coffee concerns were ok, at least better than some of the canned offerings in the supermarket but, as they've grown and aggressively expanded, the quality has come way down. This only intensified my search.

I've been mail ordering beans from various online roasters over the past years. Very familiar names, and some not so familiar. None of them hit that sweet spot for me that I've felt a void in for all these past years. Some of the customer service has been less than adequate. Needless to say, each concern only got my business one time.

A friend told me he had tried Barista on Duty and suggested I give them a try.
I started my research and was pleased to find that EVERY review I read was more than positive. I sent an email asking some questions which were quickly and cheerfully answered. Another round or two of questions, and I placed my order. Now the wait.

Well, I didn't have to wait long. The package arrived much quicker than I expected.
I opened the box, and was pleased to see that they were packaged properly. A visual inspection of the beans immediately impressed me.

Here is where I had my first and only issue...Which one to try first!
I chose the Tanzania Peaberry. I opened the bag and was greeted by that intoxicating aroma of freshly roasted, quality beans. After grinding, the aromas continued to seduce the senses. These beans were roasted perfectly for my tastes. A 3 minute steep in a French press at 200-205 degrees and I was cupping.

First sip, and I knew this was going to be special. No bitterness, full body, with a assertive flavor that immediately says Kenya better look out. I was expecting this to be a bit more acidic, but was surprised that it was not. Still bright like an African bean but wonderfully balanced with a decent amount of satisfying complexity. I don't know if it is the Beans quality, or the Roasters skill, but this was the best cup of African grown coffee I have ever had. Tanzanian beans typically do not garner the same amount of praise an Kenyan, but this was better than any Kenyan I have ever had. Now, I have to see if BOD ever roasts Kenyan because I think I"m going to go through a complete re-learning process.

This is the happiest and best first impression I have ever had of a Roaster and the Beans he has chosen. No doubt I will be coming back for more. I will post some much shorter feedback of the other 5 beans as I open them. "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship"
